Bridal shows are sort of intense. They’re kind of like show and tell, but in the classroom of capitalism.
At Halifax’s January Atlantic Bridal Showcase we got there super early and keen but quickly ran into a bunch unpredictable snags (I won’t bore you with them) that had us stressed way out, way too early in the day. Like, so stressed out that it was going to be hard do things like smile and talk cheerfully. We set ourselves up and breathed deeply, and we noticed that the vendors setting up right beside us were having no trouble smiling and talking cheerfully.
Tara & Guillaume were gliding along as if this was old hat. It wasn’t. This was their first bridal show. And their company is just as new (to Nova Scotia). Chatting them up before the show started calmed our nerves.
Having them as booth neighbors also allowed us the opportunity to hear more about their innovative company, Instathat Canada. Relatively new, Tara’s cousin is a business partner and runs the Australian division of the company (Instathat Social). Tara and Guillaume wanted to bring the service to Canada because it is current, cool, and sells itself. We totally agree!
Tara & Guillaume were drawn to working in the wedding industry after planning their own wedding. We asked for their best piece of advice to future brides and grooms. Tara remarks, “Relax and enjoy it! Don’t sweat the small stuff. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Just do it together.” Guillaume jokingly added that a groom’s best response during the planning is “I’m wrong, you’re right, I love you.”
Instathat is, for now, an evening and weekend gig for the couple. And though it takes them away from their family, Tara believes that it’s worth it. She says it best: “It’s a joy being around people enjoying themselves.”
How it works:
When it comes to their new venture, they love the reactions when potential clients understand exactly how Instathat works.
The Instathat printer will be setup with a custom hashtag for your event. Any and all photos posted to Instagram using your hashtag during your contracted time will be automatically printed from the Instathat Printer. That means people can use your hashtag at the photobooth, on the dance floor, or sending their congrats from across the world! You will get a print of all those photos. It’s like seeing the event from your guest’s perspective. How cool is that!?!?
