Like many of our photography clients, Laura and Jason aren’t living in Halifax, or even Nova Scotia. Unlike most of our ‘from away’ clients, we didn’t meet them on Skype first. In fact, the first time we met them was at a coffee shop in the days before their wedding. We met to chat about their wedding timeline and then to catch some engagement photos in Shubie Park.
That’s when the coincidences started to roll out.
It turned out that Laura and Jason were in the Halifax area for not only their own east coast wedding, but also their friends’ wedding, Cassie and Luke. Cassie and Luke were getting married the weekend before Laura and Jason and we were their photographers too! This is particularly unlikely given that Rae and I limit our wedding shoots to 20 per year. Plus, Shubie Park was where we planned to head out to get some portraits at Cassie & Luke’s wedding. Laura and Cassie also had their bridal prep in the same salon.
It’s weird. I stand somewhat firm in the conviction that coincidences must mean something, but rarely have any idea what. I have no idea what this one could possibly mean.
Laura and Jason’s wedding seemed like it was everything they wanted it to be. The rain held off long enough for an outdoor ceremony at Hatfield Farms, which was on fire with fall foliage. The barn was pumping with music and dancing well into the night. Laura was a glowing and beautiful bride and Jason, dignified in his military uniform, was a good-looking groom.
