I should be totally exhausted, and I guess I am. Rae and I worked really hard this year and this wedding is the last of our 2015 season; I couldn’t be happier with it. It landed on Hallowe’en and so Melissa & Ryan incorporated Hallowe’en festivities into their day with such elegance and taste that it was hard not to take great photos. This is actually the second Hallowe’en-themed wedding that we’ve shot, and both really impressed us with the attention to detail.
Some really cool aspects of this wedding: Melissa’s sister created memory jar–VERY cool idea. What she did was fill up a glass jar with childhood memories jotted on little pieces of notepaper, and Melissa read them while they were all preparing for the wedding. Touching and hilarious. Meanwhile (and elsewhere), Melissa’s son and Ryan were filling up jars of Hallowe’en candy so that children attending the wedding and staying late wouldn’t leave without a generous amount of Halloween loot. Many of the treats were actually baked by Melissa. The whole wedding was a huge DIY undertaking. One unexpectedly cool thing that happened (maybe didn’t seem cool at the time) was the limo broke down roughly in the middle of nowhere. It afforded us some really cool photography time and one of the best accidental locations pretty much ever. Last, later in the evening, after the ceremony, dinner and speeches, and just before the first dance, masquerade masks were passed out to everyone. Great day. Amazing people.
We hope you enjoy some of our faves from the day.
