I haven’t been this sleepy since the last time I used this phrase. Of course, fatigue is the norm in our society, hence Starbucks, Tim Horton, Red Bulls, and chocolate. But I’m the kind of tired that belly-laughs at caffeine right now. Another cup of coffee? That’s cute. You know those videos of a kid falling asleep at the table and their face dropping into their bowl of cereal? My face is writing this blog like that right now. I’m tired because we’re moving in a few days and our life is half boxed up, our days spent working and our evenings trying to stuff the other half of our lives in other boxes. All the healthy habits I’d deliberately cultivated and maintained throughout the year now seem like very out of reach and noble goals. I haven’t yogaed in weeks (months?) for example. I don’t eat well either. Oh, while I’m complaining, it’s getting cold outside and I still angry about Bernie Sanders not being voted in. Thanks for letting me vent about all this stuff guys. It’s very therapeutic.
My rant comes from looking at these photos and being teleported back to when the sun didn’t set at lunch time, back to when I felt great. Back to a day when Rae and I drove to Chester with the windows down and were immediately welcomed warmly by K & R and their friends and family, right before they launched into an outside yoga session held by K’s dad. Summer, ocean, yoga, lawn games. In the bright yellow kitchen of the Captain’s House were pancakes, bacon, berries, juice and flowers. On the dock R & K had their first look and then married each other on a gorgeous, cloudless day. Then tacos, dancing, and beverages as far as the liver can cope. Seems like a paradise, and it’s hard to believe that was only a couple months ago.
If high-class sophistication and low-brow hilarity have ever mixed as well as they did on this day, well….I’d like to see it. Until then, I’m wearing 2 pairs of socks and raising a cup of hot chocolate to these two.
Hope you enjoy our favourite moments.
