In case you haven’t yet heard: ‘Up Close and Coastal’ is a unique concert series put on by Oceanstone Resort, and it really is amazing. It’s like an acoustic Lalapalooza of Nova Scotia. The “up close” part speaks to the intimate nature of the concerts. These concerts take place in a cozy (and newly renovated) dining hall, complete with a fireplace and huge windows overlooking the ocean. Tickets to the concert put you up close with the best musicisans in Atlantic Canada and include not only live music but food too, prepared on site by the resort’s chefs in accordance to the musician’s tastes. You mingle, you eat, you drink, you listen to music, at a resort by the sea. This is the best of Nova Scotia.
Heather Rankin, Town heroes, John CampbellJohn, Brian Byrne, and Old Man Luedecke are some of the past performers. Last Saturday (March, 4th, 2017) featured Christine Campbell and Blake Johnston, and though Up Close & Coastal has blown my mind with amazing music, this last one has been my favourite to date. Such an amazing experience.
